Toussus le Noble, France, July 17, 2024 –
With the launch of an alternative fuel offer containing sustainable aviation fuel at the Paris-Saclay-Versailles Airport, TotalEnergies, Daher and Groupe ADP are joining forces to contribute to the decarbonization of air transport, in particular for general aviation.
Available since the beginning of June for all users who wish to utilize it, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced and distributed by TotalEnergies comes from waste and residues from the circular economy. It is incorporated up to 35% with conventional kerosene. This mixture, which has technical properties similar to those of standard aeronautical fuel, does not require any modification to the airplanes or to the logistical infrastructures or refueling operations. It allows a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 30%, over the entire life cycle, compared to its fossil equivalent.
Decarbonization issues are at the heart of Groupe ADP's commitments through its 2025 Pioneers strategic plan. As such, the Paris-Saclay-Versailles Airport constitutes an innovation and training laboratory which brings together associative and private entities, as well as aircraft manufacturers and maintainers in the heart of the Saclay plateau. The launch of this unique offer on an airport confirms its positioning at the forefront of decarbonization for more sustainable general aviation.
TotalEnergies has been distributing fuel on the Paris-Saclay-Versailles site for more than 50 years and provides its customers with multi-energy solutions which, for some, contribute to decarbonizing their operations:
- Two electric charging stations intended for light aircraft;
- An offer of SP 98-type fuel adapted for aviation use
- The alternative fuel containing SAF; and
- Four electric refueling vehicles to reduce emissions from ground operations.
“We are delighted to be able to complete our offer with SAF for users of the Paris-Saclay-Versailles platform and thus meet the strong demand from the aeronautics sector to reduce its carbon footprint,” declared Louise Tricoire, Director of Aviation and Marine Fuels at TotalEnergies. “Sustainable aviation fuels are essential for reducing CO2 emissions from air transport, and their development is fully in line with the company's climate ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, together with society. We also aim to produce 1.5Mt of SAF by 2030.”
“This provision of Sustainable Aviation Fuel at Paris-Saclay-Versailles Airport, where we have one of our main maintenance bases in France, is an important step for the promotion of these fuels to our customers,” added Nicolas Chabbert, CEO of the Daher Aircraft division. “Since 2022, we have been using the mixture of Jet A-1 and SAF on our TBM and Kodiak aircraft for flight operations at our French industrial site in Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées, or at airports where it is available. Daher is strongly committed to the transition towards carbon neutrality by 2050.”
“The Paris-Saclay-Versailles aerodrome constitutes a real incubator for promoting sustainable and innovative aviation,” said Sebastien Couturier, director of the Paris-Le Bourget Airport and general aviation aerodromes. “After the installation of charging stations to support the growth of electric aviation in 2023, this new initiative in favor of decarbonization of general aviation is aimed more particularly at travel airplanes and helicopters present on the platform. We are convinced that this sustainable aeronautical fuel offering will generate increasing demand which will gradually allow us to decarbonize all operations.”

About Daher
Aircraft manufacturer, industrialist, industrial service provider and logistician, Daher today has around 13,000 employees for a turnover of 1.65 billion euros. With its family ownership, Daher has been focused on innovation since its creation in 1863. With locations in around fifteen countries in Europe, North America and Asia, Daher designs and develops value-added solutions for its aeronautical and industrial customers and partners.
Daher manufactures two families of single-engine turboprop airplanes: the Kodiak utility aircraft in Sandpoint, Idaho, USA, and the very efficient pressurized TBM in Tarbes, France.
Current TBM versions in production are the TBM 960, with Garmin’s G3000 integrated flight deck; and the TBM 910, equipped with the Garmin’s G1000 NXi avionics system controlled by a keypad. Both models offer increased automation and superior performance.
The Kodiak versions are unpressurized 8-10-seat airplanes equipped with Garmin’s G1000 NXi avionics. The Kodiak 100 series III is powered by a 750 shp. PT6A-135 engine, with the capability of operating on uneven and unimproved runways, as well as on water in the amphibious version. The Kodiak 900 has a a 900 shp. PT6A-140A engine, a longer fuselage for more passenger room and cargo space, a cruise speed increase to 210 KTAS, and a greater useful load while offering a maximum range of 1,129 nm. Both offer a unique combination of robust construction, STOL characteristics and remarkable useful load, well-suited for multi-mission operations such as surveillance, MEDEVAC, skydiving and more.
As of July 15, 2024 a total of 351 Kodiaks and 1,212 TBMs have been delivered worldwide, with the entire fleet accumulating more than 3 million flight hours.
