AVGAS UL91 is an unleaded aviation gasoline specially designed for microlight aircraft, with the letters UL designating "unleaded".
The formulation contains no alcohols such as ethanol, and was designed to protect the fuel tanks and lines. Alcohols can damage certain materials and have the disadvantage of absorbing water.
How can you identify AVGAS UL91 at a service station?
AVGAS UL 91 is marked in airport refueling facilities in white letters against a red background with a green border. This clear labeling was designed to prevent any "misfuelling", with AVGAS 100LL or JET A-1 being erroneously used instead. Similarly, AVGAS dispenser nozzles are painted in red and JET A-1 nozzles in black.
